In July 2016 the then Madhya Pradesh Governor Sri Ramnaresh Yadav showed green flag for the formation "Happiness Department"
the first of it’s kind as it’s 67th
department in Madhya Pradesh.

Principal Secretary was assigned for looking after the affairs under the guidance
of then Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan .
·
Roti
(food), kapda (clothes) and makaan (house) are basic necessities, but a human
being needs more
·
The department would promote cultural, sporting
and spiritual pursuits, besides yoga and
meditation to add to the happiness quotient of residents of the state.
·
The department will prepare
guidelines for coordination between different departments like women and child
development, health, and sports for propagating happiness in the state, added
the officials.
·
An Anand Sansthan or Happiness Institute will
also be set up under the Department of Happiness as a resource centre for enhancing the
happiness quotient.

Prescribe
action plan and activities for experiencing happiness by identifying and
defining the parameters of happiness and efficiency

Chouhan had got this idea at a BJP event in Bhopal, and later
spoken about it at an event organised on the sidelines of the Simhastha Kumbh
near Ujjain. It was included in the 51-point Simhastha Declaration released by
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the last day of the event.

It will commission studies on the psychological
condition of the people of the state

A
team comprising of senior officials will also visit Bhutan*
* In Bhutan people's satisfaction is
being measured through 'happiness index' and not GDP (gross domestic
production). As per later reports
Happiness Department is planning to consider the plight of Non reserved
categories of the State.
Happiness
in mind can do miracles for workforce which paves way to high level success and
this success transferred to person, family, community, country, world….a
positive world results.
